The Science-Faith Mashup

When the head of the Human Genone Project, Dr. Francis Collins, starts talking about the possibilities of God, faith and science to all be held up together, it kind of catches your attention.
This is the guy who is breaking the DNA code of life after all. Imagine finally understanding the most fundamental building blocks of human existence in science…
But different than the norm of pitting Science *against* Faith, or vice versa, this guy speaks of why they are compatible — and why he personally believes in God, despite, and because of what he does for a living has shown him.
Perhaps it’s not the how and what, but the who and why that we need to focus on when thinking about creation and existence in this world.

Aussie, thanks for the heads up on the message @ Liquid Church.
Many if not most Christians know of the Creation vs. Evolution debate by buzzwords only. But it is important to understand.
I find these types of instances very interesting and encouaging. The atheists’ arguments are largely one that Christians on the creation side are ignorant and are not looking at evidence, scientific observation, etc. Christians are “blind” like an ostrich with its head in the sand.
But when scientisis, and especially prominent ones like Dr. Collins make their case, the accusations for false derivation of the “faith/religion” position kind of melt away.

I think a good many Christians do not know much about the Creation / Evolution debate beyond the buzzwords in the media. But it's pretty important to grasp what is at stake in the conversation.
Most atheists argue that most Christians choose to align themselves with the intelligent design/creation aspect without examining the data or considering any scientific observations.
But when prominent scientists like Dr. Collins offer their perspective validating the approach to hold up science WITH faith in affirming God's existence, it provides some reassurance to me.
